Much of the buzz surrounding the upcoming Far Cry: New Dawn has been about the game’s pretty post-apocalyptic setting. Unfolding 17 years after Far Cry 5‘s catastrophic conclusion, the spin-off’s substantial passage of time has allowed it to forgo the familiar dark and dreary end-of-days environments in favour of blue skies and bright foliage.

Based on our recent hands-off demo at Ubisoft’s Montreal studio, however, it seems New Dawn‘s doing more than painting the apocalypse with a vibrant colour palette. While it’s not rebooting or significantly evolving on the franchise’s time-tested formula, it is adding enough interesting tweaks, fan-pleasing refinements, and inspired features to make it feel much more substantial than a Far Cry 5 expansion.
ONE MAN’S JUNK…
PreviousNext

All the game’s weapons and gear sports super-detailed, makeshift looks, not unlike the cobbled-together hand-cannons of the Metro games. Guns are made of scraps and junk – everything from pipes and duct tape to random pieces of plastic and metal – complete with kitchen knives serving as bayonets. Beyond the cosmetic appeal of these DIY creations though, many of their individual pieces are actually performance improving upgrades.

During our demo, for example, the protagonist – an unnamed character brought in to help rebuild Hope County – tackled a mission that’d ultimately see them discovering valuable upgrade resources. Showcasing another of the game’s cooler additions, the loot-gathering quest didn’t take place in Hope County, but in an old Louisiana amusement park.

All the game’s weapons and gear sports super-detailed, makeshift looks, not unlike the cobbled-together hand-cannons of the Metro games.

New Dawn introduces Expeditions, objectives far from the main Montana map that can be reached by helicopter. These off-the-beaten-path excursions, which will also take players to Arizona and California, promise to feature vastly different environments, all with unique biomes. In the case of our demo, we were treated to a sprawling stretch of Louisiana swampland – and the crocodiles within it – as well as plenty of rundown theme park rides.

On top of featuring some fresh sights and non-Montana wildlife, the area was protected by a fresh enemy faction. New Dawn‘s primary antagonists are the Highwaymen, an unsavoury crew that’s transformed old motocross gear into armour, while apparently decorating their helmets with the skeletal mandibles of sharp-toothed beasts.
Ramp it up

The Highwaymen back up their menacing look by also being difficult to take down. Noting that well-armed players could too easily blast through baddies in Far Cry 5, the developer’s introducing enemy tiers in New Dawn. Lower level threats will still serve as bullet fodder, but those higher on the henchmen food chain – including bulky Enforcers – will be able to absorb more damage. We didn’t see these bigger brutes in action though, as our preview session saw a skilled sniper eliminate most threats from afar. Specifically, the player was accompanied by Nana, a sharpshooting grandma that serves as one of the game’s new Guns for Hire.

Speaking of the specialist system’s return, players are limited to teaming-up with just one AI recruit at a time in New Dawn – narratively justified by the smaller, post-apocalypse population – but a number of fresh faces should make for some fun pairings. In addition to Nana, Nick and Kim Rye’s now-17-year-old baby girl Carmina can be recruited, as can new Fangs for Hire Horatio and Timber. The former is a boar capable of mauling multiple targets in one sweep, while the latter’s a canine whose cuteness is matched only by his ability to treat a goon’s throat like a chew toy. Fans who hated leaving Far Cry 5′s Boomer in the dust will also appreciate the fact dogs can finally ride shotgun in New Dawn. Far Cry 5‘s Pastor Jerome, as well as series’ man-child Hurk, will also be available to fight by your side.

Upon laying waste to swarms of Highwaymen and collecting plenty of loot, the player steering our preview rendezvoused with the chopper and left Louisiana for Hope County’s Prosperity, the previous location of John Seed’s ranch. Once the sprawling estate of the crazed cultist, the land now serves as a modest safe haven where players can regroup, craft gear, and upgrade weapons. In this case, the resources brought back from the expedition were leveraged to buff the protagonist’s saw blade launcher; the power tool-turned-lethal-weapon that could previously spit out a single blade was now capable of shooting a trio of deadly discs simultaneously.

Based on our in-depth demo of New Dawn, it seems the game’s positioned to work as both a standalone adventure, complete with new story elements, environments, characters, gameplay mechanics and systems, as well as a sequel with plenty of cool call-backs to Far Cry 5. There’s still much to learn about this chapter, including details on its antagonist twin sisters Mickey and Lou, but if our promising peeks – and New Dawn‘s appealing $39.95 price point – is any indication, we’ll be heading back to Hope County come February 15th.

The most subscribed YouTuber, Felix 'PewDiePie' Kjellberg, continues to battle for the title of number one as Indian record label T-Series attempts to dethrone him.

PewDiePie has had the privilege of being the number one YouTuber for a number of years, but T-Series came out of nowhere to threaten his place on top, although he has claimed that he doesn't "really care": "I genuinely don’t. I think that if YouTube does shift in a way that’s more corporate… something else will take its place."

However, he has certainly made the most of the fan interest in the situation, creating multiple videos on the topic and even releasing a diss track, oddly called 'bitch lasagna', to roast the Indian company.
PewDiePie's own 'YouTube Rewind' gained over 34 million views in 6 days.

PewDiePie has questioned the legitimacy of T-Series subscriber count, as rumours suggested that every new YouTube account made in India was automatically subscribed to the channel. This was later disproved. During the battle for number one, there has been plenty of drama, and we'll update this article with more information as it progresses.

Despite the onslaught, PewDiePie continues to hit new milestones, despite doubting that he would ever be the first to hit a milestone again after crossing 67 million back in October.

Update, December 30: PewDiePie hits yet another milestone, crossing the 79 million mark. T-Series is beginning to close the gap again, slowly, but still remain over 1 million behind as PewDiePie hits 79,000,000.

Update January 7: PewDiePie has smashed through the 80 million subscriber barrier, however, the Swede's lead has had his lead of over 1.5 million reduced to just 800,000.

Update January 13: PewDiePie is more halfway to 81 million subscribers, but T-Series has now crossed the 80 million mark too. Kjellberg's lead continues to diminish, with T-Series only roughly 440,000 behind, meaning T-Series have gained on him by almost half a million in only a week.

Fellow YouTuber MrBeast attempted to help out PewDiePie by running a citywide advertising campaign inviting people to subscribe to him, to prevent T-Series taking the top spot. Another YouTuber, Justin Roberts, paid $1m for a billboard in New York.

Fans of PewDiePie have also been doing their part, including hacking printers, smart devices, and even hacking GTA V to spread the message that he needs subscribers.

T-Series has managed to come dangerously close to overtaking PewDiePie on multiple occasions, but each time, he has come out on top to keep his seat on the throne. Who will make it the first to 100 million?
1.No-Risk Matched Betting

Hands down the quickest way to make a lot of money (well, without breaking the law). Lots of students have genuinely made £100s from this technique. It's completely legal, risk-free, tax-free, and anyone over 18 in the UK can do it (Not in the UK? Skip to no. 2)!

It works by taking advantage of free bets regularly offered by betting sites through 'matching' them at a betting exchange. Matched betting eliminates the risk (you are betting both for and against a certain outcome).

This leaves you being able to squeeze out the free bet, which can be as much as £200! Multiply this by how many betting sites there are and you can quite easily come away with a profit of a few hundred pounds.

Owen walks you through how to make your first £18 profit (using a real-life example) in this gem of a guide to matched betting. If you know of any better way to make £50/hr sitting at home, please let us know!

2.Online surveys

An increasingly popular way for students to make money is to fill out online surveys in their spare time. Research companies are always recruiting new members worldwide to answer surveys and test new products.

For a few minutes of form filling, you can make a couple of quid which is paid as cash or rewards. You can bag up to £3 ($5) for some surveys!

A few good ones to try are Toluna, MySurvey, OnePoll, i-Say, InboxPounds, Panel Opinion, Global Test Market, The Opinion Panel, YouGov, Opinion Outpost, New Vista, Pinecone, SurveyBods, Hiving, Panel Base, Prolific, Survey Junkie.

Also sign up for Swagbucks which rewards you for surveys as well as simply surfing the web, watching videos and playing games.

3.Become a delivery rider or driver

Got a bicycle, motorbike or car? What about a Smartphone? That's all you need to make some extra money by delivering food or people whenever you've got some spare time.

Sign up to delivery specialist companies like Deliveroo who are always on the hunt for new riders. They allow you total flexibility to work when you want, delivering food from restaurants to the customers' door. You can make up to £16 an hour.

Double-up your opportunities by directly contacting local takeaways and bigger chains like Dominos to see if they have any delivery jobs going.

4.Write and publish a Kindle eBook

If students are good at anything, it's researching and writing. With the Amazon Kindle store, anyone can publish an eBook and make money.

And the Kindle app is now available on almost any device (laptops, iPads, smartphones and yes, Kindles) so your global market is huge!

List your book for £1.49 - £6.99 and you earn 70% of the sale. Considering Amazon is the ultimate selling machine (and remember people are looking to spend), that is a fantastic deal.

The key to success with eBooks is to create value, and write non-fiction. Simply bundling information you have researched and compiled on a common problem (eg. 'secrets' to finding a job) and then presenting it in an easy to digest format (an eBook) justifies someone spending a few quid on it.

Another big tip is to have a great cover designed (browse these) so it stands out, and once your book is live on the Kindle store it's really important to get some reviews so it shows up higher in results. Encourage readers to leave an honest review at the end of your book.

The best thing about this lucrative idea is that once you've invested the time (say 20 hours), you'll earn a passive income for years to come! For a step-by-step guide to publishing and earning with eBooks, see "How to write a nonfiction eBook in 21 days".

5.Mobile phone recycling

You can earn good money and help the environment by recycling your old mobile phones and other unused devices. Maybe ask your parents if they have any lying around too.

Here are the some best companies,

Google AdSense is a beautiful thing. They pay you for posting content online, whether it be through a third-party website like WonderHowTo or on your own website. WonderHowTo seems to be a good place to start from if you plan to make money with AdSense, but it's not the only place that you can submit content to and receive all of the revenue generated by the AdSense ad units. You may want to get a wider audience and more traffic, and for that, you must look beyond the horizon of just one site.

Warning
  • I am not promoting any websites here! Just giving info on other websites that offer the same service to copywriters as this site. I have personally tried and successfully made money from all the websites listed below.

HubPages

  • HubPages is a pretty cool website. It's very similar to WonderHowTo, where you write content and try to generate traffic. You must link your Google AdSense account to them and are paid for every impression and click. HubPages is much like the Worlds on WonderHowTo, where you create "Hubs" that are dedicated to one topic. The more interesting you make this topic, the more traffic. The better the Hub, the more HubPages will advertise your Hub.

Other Sites

I give a lot of kudos to HubPages because I have made a lot of money from their services. But here's a list of other websites which I have tried and made quite a bit of cash by sharing AdSense revenue:
